Ep. 53 Creating Abundance & Resilience Beyond Major Adversity, With Former Professional Motocross Athlete, Daniel McCoy

Daniel McCoy is a former professional motocross and supercross rider, turned motocross coach and clothing company owner.

Dan raced professionally for 15 years before a major accident in Scotland completely changed his life forever.

If you’re having trouble creating a positive outlook in life when you’re faced with challenges or adversities, this chat will really help you understand how much of your reality is created by you, by looking ahead in life and concentrating on what you can control and not what you can’t control.

You hear me say it a lot on Your Life Of Impact as it’s a message that resonates from most of the guests – our happiness and our positive emotions are determined by us. By you. Not by your external environments, but by your internal environments – your perception of the world and your perception of your circumstances is what creates your happiness and all your emotions.

Dan is another prime example of this.

I had the misfortune (although it was nothing to that which Daniel suffered) of seeing him injured in Glasgow as I had known his dad from his speedway days in Scotland and we were looking forward to a celebratory catch up. What happened resulted in something quite different. In the first few days which followed the accident, I visited Daniel in the local hospital, and I could already see a clear determination suggesting that his serious injury was not going to stop him achieving a full and worthwhile life, regardless of the diagnosis. Although the 12,000 miles between us have meant I have to follow his progress and recovery from afar, I’d simply comment that riders in all forms of motorcycle racing tend to be role models of one sort or another, but Daniel has taken that role onto a whole new level, and it’s inspiring to see how much he now gets out of life in spite of the seriousness of the injury he suffered, beside his lovel lady Amy and his baby son Ryker. I wish him every success as he goes down his new path and I’m sure he’ll continue to inspire so many people to be all they can be, and more, in the future.

Thanks for that story and feedback Bill.

Daniel certainly has an outlook on life that we could all learn from!

      All the best.
